Editing for Bloggers
The amount of expertise found in blogs all over the internet is mind-boggling.
I am discovering, however, that though many bloggers produce a lot of content, and though their expertise is obvious, sometimes their use of grammar, spelling, and basic English is at best distracting and at worst, leaves a bad impression.
Most mistakes are Proofreading Oversights. Below are mistakes I spotted just this morning in some high-profile blogs:
“…explaining how to improve the security of your servers or how the harden your wordpress installation.”
“Directed by Walter Robot, who say, “This video is totally official…’”
“Carve out as much time during you day for focused work as possible. “
Sure, I understood the message, and I know the writers know better. I also suspect they would correct the mistakes if they noticed them.
Yet they didn’t notice them. A second pair of eyes – belonging to a professional proofreader — would have caught those minor errors.
English as a second language. Below is some copy I came across; the site belongs to a web design company based in India.
Nowadays website becomes an essential part of every profession. Website makes strong impact on the image of your company. It is very important when you are more concern about exploring your business world wide.
If you are into the business, an owner of small or medium or big company, or a professional or free lancer you need to have your own website for many reasons.
Would you employ a design company that doesn’t know how to use the word explore or makes you wonder, “What makes a lancer free”?
They could use a native English-speaking proofreader.
That’s where I come in.
Since 1990, editing and proofreading have been necessary components of my freelance administrative services. For the past eight years, I have also written ad and brochure copy and provided proofreading and editing services for a full-service advertising agency – a very satisfying right-brain, left-brain experience.
I can do the same for you.
For light proofing, either send me your copy before you post it or ask me to read your posts and send you my suggestions.
If you know what you want to say but want polished copy, send me your content. I’ll analyze the piece and ensure it is well organized, with grammar and punctuation that doesn’t distract from your message.
Cost? That depends on the frequency of your posts and the amount of editing or proofing you require. If you’re among the first to inquire, a trade for publicity might work out. Click on my contact tab, send me a note, and we’ll talk.

I would recommend this service to anyone! Congrats on starting up the service… you’ll do great. If you really want to promote it, I can share a few more with you. Let me know!
Thanks, Seth. Yes, I would like to promote my proofing and copy editing services. It is certainly something that I could provide for bloggers — if they recognize a need for it.
Well I consider myself smart enough to have “recognized a need” for a second pair of eyes! I wholeheartedly recommend Cheryl for editing articles. Her work is flawless and she even puts herself in the reader’s shoes to make suggestions for content clarity. Oh, did I say she is the Editor for our team blog?
Thanks for your endorsement and kind words, Shirley. I’m learning a lot from you and Ishan while editing your articles. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy proofing and editing — on any topic. I learn so much!
